Development of a Composite Implicit Time Integration Scheme for Three-Dimensional Discontinuous Deformation Analysis

نویسندگان

چکیده

Discontinuous deformation analysis (DDA) is a discontinuum-based and implicit method for investigating the deformational behavior of block systems. The constant acceleration integration (CAI) scheme characterized by unconditional stability employed in traditional DDA. In this study, problems CAI regarding time step DDA are pointed out. A too large or small size adopted will have adverse effects on computation. To overcome weaknesses, an alternative composite (CITI) scheme, which combination trapezoidal rule three-point backward Euler method, implemented three-dimensional (3D) method. Verification examples slope numerical simulations presented to illustrate accuracy effectiveness proposed methodology. results showed that CITI can error caused size, algorithm damping closely related selected splitting parameter.

On a composite implicit time integration procedure for nonlinear dynamics

Transient analysis of nonlinear problems in structural and solid mechanics is mainly carried out using direct time integration of the equations of motion. For reliable solutions, a stable and efficient integration algorithm is desirable. Methods that are unconditionally stable in linear analyses appear to be a natural choice for use in nonlinear analyses, but unfortunately may not remain stable...

A General Solution for Implicit Time Stepping Scheme in Rate-dependant Plasticity

In this paper the derivation of the second differentiation of a general yield surface implicit time stepping method along with its consistent elastic-plastic modulus is studied. Moreover, the explicit, trapezoidal implicit and fully implicit time stepping schemes are compared in rate-dependant plasticity. It is shown that implementing fully implicit time stepping scheme in rate-dependant plasti...

A Modified Multi Time Step Integration for Dynamic Analysis

In this paper new implicit higher order accuracy (N-IHOA) time integration based on assumption of constant time step is presented for dynamic analysis. This method belongs to the category of the multi time step integrations. Here, current displacement and velocity are assumed to be functions of the velocities and accelerations of several previous time steps, respectively. This definition causes...

Time-Discontinuous Finite Element Analysis of Two-Dimensional Elastodynamic Problems using Complex Fourier Shape Functions

This paper reformulates a time-discontinuous finite element method (TD-FEM) based on a new class of shape functions, called complex Fourier hereafter, for solving two-dimensional elastodynamic problems. These shape functions, which are derived from their corresponding radial basis functions, have some advantages such as the satisfaction of exponential and trigonometric function fields in comple...
